Ruadh Mhor 11 Jahre Single Cask – Whiskyfacile
Distilled at Glenturret distillery from a heavily peated malt (80 ppm), this single malt has been reduced to 54,9 % ABV. The outturn of the Refill bourbon hogshead #172 is 335 bottles. There's something very gastronomical in this whisky: the peaty character is very different from the medicinal Islay stuff. Actually, the nose starts with a funky mix of cheese and sausages and fattiness. All these “dirty” and tasty notes come with a distinct sense of burnt leaves and mediterranean smoky herbs and berries. A shimmering nose, it keeps changing. Still, it’s a whisky born to come with food, because the palate is a powerful cocktail of ash, salt, savoury fats and pepper. The peatiness is clearly predominant but never overwhelming. Long, long and pleasently bitter finish, where the true nature of the spirit reveals itself. For rough and ready whisky lovers.
